About the service

A cataract is a clouding of the eye's natural lens that makes vision blurry, colors look faded, and bright light cause glare. Glasses and eye drops do not help with cataracts: clear vision can only be restored surgically.

At SAIF OPTIMA, the clouded lens is removed by phacoemulsification through a micro-incision, with no stitches. For greater precision, the surgery is performed with femtosecond laser assistance on the FEMTO Z8 NEO (Ziemer, Switzerland). The natural lens is replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL): monofocal, toric (for astigmatism), extended depth of focus, or trifocal, so you can see both far and near without glasses.

Process

Treatment takes place in three stages:

  • Comprehensive diagnostics (2–3 hours): the doctor assesses the condition of the eye and calculates the lens parameters.
  • Surgery (about 15 minutes): the lens is removed through a micro-incision and an IOL is implanted.
  • Post-operative check-up (about 30 minutes): the surgeon checks the result and gives recommendations for the recovery period.
